Tumblr sent out a survey, I don’t think it’s to everyone but I got one and took it. They did have some cool ideas in the pipeline and I said so. They also had some flushers and I said that too. But mostly I took it so I could be like, “Just give us back the pause button on videos and let us scroll through them, this isn’t tiktok.”

A friend is trying very hard to convince me to start donating plasma (he gets a referral bonus if he signs someone up) and ngl the idea of using it to pay for less important things like books and art commissions is appealing if only for the fact that I get to say "Yeah I'm paying for this with blood money"

top 5 arts you've made last year

thank you for asking! I made a lot of art I like and am proud of last year - I’ve been a bit unmotivated recently (to everyone who sent palette prompts: hi!), but I feel like I’ve been able to genuinely develop my drawing skills over the past few years ... And I can still feel that when I’m able to get in the groove. So:

Goewin and Abreha from A Coalition of Lions. The other four pieces are just in an order that looked good, but this is probably my favorite from this year. It felt like I was effectively applying my approaches to screenshot redraws/other direct references to my own composition and character design! Also, I love that scene SO much. Maybe that helped, or maybe my secret was that I drew it on a train ride (while listening to a very funny scene in The Game of Kings for the first time), which brings me to …

Will Scott and Lymond’s nighttime argument in the woods, from The Game of Kings. Speaking of no references, I’m not sure what happened to the trees here, but it works somehow, and I like how their postures/expressions turned out.

My co-worker/ work friend just gave me this deck the other day. Just because. like how freaking wholesome and awesome?!

This deck is absolutely beautiful. The art is based on fairy tales, folklore, etc from all over the world. Apparently there's a book of the stories used which he had and did keep. So I gotta buy a copy of that book for myself at some point.

We had talked about Tarot a few times and he never really used the deck, just got it because it was pretty. He said I'd get more use out of it. He also mentioned there's an updated version on sale so I suspect it may also have been an excuse to buy the updated version lol

But still, it was such a sweet gift. I was blown away.

Went into my local kpop store today on a mission to buy BamBam’s 3rd mini album Bamesis (it’s my first BamBam album so fuck yeah. I’m still a newbie to him).

Ended up also finding a SIGNED XIKERS ALBUM. AND IT’S SIGNED BY MY FUCKING BIAS JUNMIN. OF COURSE I BOUGHT IT.

Cactus flower at the Jardín Botánico el Charco del Ingenio en San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Many weeks ago, I pulled the A Fierce Desert Flower oracle card from the environmentally-based The Cantigee Oracle deck. I love this deck because of the beautiful illustrations and the deep explorations of various states of being. I felt fully seen and engaged by The Fierce Desert Flower card. It talked about being seen and about a blossoming that's the result of or fueled by life challenges.

My most recent life challenge was spending the first months of the year pretty close to burnout. I was shut down, worn out, and sluggish. I couldn't take real time off from work, but I could jump onto a friend's trip to San Miguel de Allende. While there, we went to this botanical garden that was more like a nature preserve. Large and sweeping, the Jardín Botánico el Charco del Ingenio is a nature preserve for desert flora that are on the verge of extinction. It was my first time hearing of the preservation of plants in a protected area. The vast diversity of cacti was stunning. I snapped this picture of this bold and brilliant desert flower.

That was in April, months later I pulled the desert flower card and spent a week diving into the card's meaning and reflecting on its message for me. Imagine my surprise when I was recently looking through my photos and found this photo. Me, I had chosen to take a picture of a desert flower on a trip that began the process of restoring me back to balance and back to life.

I have nothing deep to share about it, but wanted to stop and acknowledge the echo. These nurturing nudges mean so much to me. "You can do it," they whisper. They shore me up in the face of doubt, and give me hope that there's something else sustaining me, something or someone that has my best interest in mind.

Praying that you receive a nurturing sign this week, especially one that's embedded in an object that you already have in your life. The delight at knowing that you are naturally part of a nurturing conversation is so gratifying!
